We are pleased to offer this handy 1990s promotional plastic folding ruler acquired from a retired plumber in Prague. A folding rule is also called a carpenter’s folding rule, a mason’s rule, or a zig-zag rule. The folding rule was the measuring instrument of choice among carpenters & other tradesmen until the tape measure came along. Now, the tape measure gets all the glory, but the venerable folding rule still has its fan base. The folding rule has been around since at least the mid-1800s. It was the standard measuring device used by tradesmen until the invention of the retractable tape measure. Originally made from wood, this folding rule is made from hard plastic, with pivoting hinges made from steel & folds out to 200 cm (2 meters). WILO is a water pump manufacturing company, & back in the day, they would give these out to their customers, around the millennium.
