Hello & Welcome to The Textile Trunk Please follow us on Instagram @textiletrunk Nothing short of a magnificent find Deep saffron tones with red block printing ~I’ve kept this textile in my private collection for about 20 years!! I adore everything about this textile. It’s dates from the late 1700’s or very early 1800’s & was piece dyed & then the medallion pattern was printed on to the cloth. The cloths is a light weight fabric & this textile is backed in linen to give it the strength needed to be a slip cover!! It would have been slipped over a little love seat ~There would have been arm on the char too, what I wouldn’t do to see this furniture The lining is pieced, using various fabrics of white linen, cotton etc ~ Ideal for study, use , design inspiration etc ~! A wonderful find indeed MEASUREMENTS : Wonderfully large! It’s 66 inches wide across the top , & the seat would have hit about 25 inches down . The full length is about 62 inches from the top of the printed fabric to the bottom ( on the front) the arms would have been about 11 inches long ~ Difficult to measure! CONDITION: This chair cover is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. Rarely have I ever found this early of fabric in this wonderful of condition! ~ The lining is pieced & I think they used scraps of what they had around the house to make it, so the lining is comprised of piece from the mid to late 18th century The lining has some small marks & there is a split in one of the seams. It’s generally in WONDERFUL condition. Plenty of long life left to live . ~ Please see my other Antique French fabric auctions by clicking View Sellers Other Items Slipcover Vintage French Chair Slip Cover C 1800 18Th Century Hand Block Printed Medallion Patterns
