This traditional vintage Japanese kimono obi belt can also be made into a lovely home decor art piece MADE TO ORDER from this unused authentic Japanese vintage silk obi kimono belt. It has a gorgeous cream silk background with an exquisite woven feature of a beautiful pair of long-tailed birds amid traditional flowers & foliage including embroidered sagara knot (French knot) peonies on this silk fukura obi. Sagara Knots, which were one of the earliest techniques used in embroidery in Japan, give texture to an otherwise flat work. They may be used individually to indicate random pieces of pollen, or massed in the center of a flower, or used as in this case to outline the whole design - amazing work! The colors are soft pastels & the back is a soft cream. Since the patterns only appear in two areas & involve considerable hand-tied knot-work this is only offered as a full obi for wearing or crafting or as one length as a runner to incorporate both images in the runner. Appears unworn.
