French World War I, Trench Art, antique hand made vase, or pencil/brush holder, engraved 1918, the last year of the war, with a flaired top & a lot of little stipples…a flower can be seen aslso. This is one of the shiniest & simple ones that I have had. A poilu soldier spent his time in designing a keepsake to take home, perhaps a vase with a carving of a sprig of daisies with tiny punches around the cylinder. How much time they must have had on their hands & this was a great way to relieve the tedium & stress. Measures approx 4" tall by 2" wide. So, this is a smaller object, using a smaller piece of ordinance. I have polished it but it could use a little bit more cleaning.
