Martingales DO NOT come with a buckle; therefore, the collar must be large enough at its peak adjustable size to slide over the biggest part of your pups head. To correctly measure your pup for a martingale, measure the width around the following three areas & then choose the size that contains all three measurements: - the widest part of your pup’s head - the neck just behind the ears - the neck where the collar naturally sits For example, if the largest measurement of your pup’s head is 18", the neck behind the ears is 16", & the neck where the collar rests is 17.5", you want to choose the size range that contains all three measurements. This pup would need a MEDIUM collar, which adjusts from 15" to 21" inches. As this type of collar doesn’t have buckle, you should allow at least 2 inches larger than the widest head measurement to slide the collar on & off comfortably.
