He studied drawing & etching at the Beaux Art School in Nantes, France, & later studied with Professor Guimezanes - learning the details of the mezzotint technique. Schkolnyk is a master of three-color mezzotint prints. He creates three different mezzotint plates & then prints each one using a primary color. These transparent colors interact with each other creating a full spectrum of colors from white to bright red & velvet black. Whether the impression is printed in one color or multi-colors, the final product is amazingly rich. Laurent Schkolnyk has had single-artist exhibitions in Paris, France; Tokyo, Japan; San Francisco, CA; & Seattle, WA. His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions in France, the United States, & Asia.
