Indigo Upholstered Arm Chair with Parrot The textiles on this chairso many hands, endless indigos & so much soul!! We never get enough of indigos it seems! Let’s begin with the hand woven ones! There are four vintage hand woven indigos on this chair; all are from west Africa. The regions span through Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ghana & the Ivory Coast. The first is a solid indigo on the inside back where you’ll notice subtle color variations due to hand dying. We love the imperfections hand dying creates. The second are the two similar but different stripes on both arms, hand woven in strips & later stitched together to form a usable larger textile, all cotton. The third hand woven indigo is located on the bottom front & shows a tie dyed technique where a corn kernel has been used historically to get this recurring mark. Sweet, subtle & varied markings due to the human hands at work! On the inside back we’ve attached some rounded finery for your viewing & enjoyment! The round piece is a vintage doily locally indigo dyed, & creating the most fabulous blues with the cotton & attached lacework. On top we’ve added a fabulous antique textile fragment of a parrot! He’s French, from the 1800’s & holding a branch! We’ve stitched him up using our chunky black thread!! We’ve covered the new seat cushion in recycled jeans, for your sitting pleasure! Jeans make up a lot of what’s seen in land fills. There’s evidence of a pocket on the upper left side! We like details! Chunky indigo welting outlines the entire of this seated wonder!!
