He studied at the Art Students League in New York City with J. Twachtman, H. S. Mowbray & F. V. DuMond. Meyer was an Associate member in 1939 & later became a full member of the National Academy of Design, as well as a member of the Salmagundi Club, New York Watercolor Club, American Watercolor Society & the Southern Vermont Artists. Exhibition venues included Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C., the Whitney Museum of American Art & the Macbeth Gallery in New York City. Meyer’s work can be found at the Addison Gallery of American Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Wood Art Gallery, Fleming Museum of Art, Fort Worth Museum of Art, Canajoharie Museum & the National Academy of Design.
