This necklace was handmade using a combination of new & vintage materials. It features a vintage marbled plastic mechanical pencil in cream & burgundy tones with a gold plated tip. I believe it was likely used to keep score in a game (perhaps bridge?) as it originally had a tassel attached. I think it was made sometime in the 1950’s. It still works & there is even a little lead in it (you can replace it when it runs out if you’d like to keep using it as a functional piece). It is on a new antiqued brass (over copper) chain which is finished with a brass (over copper) lobster clasp & a brass hexagon loop. The pencil measures 3" long & just shy of .5" wide.
