This pendant features a crystal of green chrysoberyl from Zimbabwe. Its color shifts a little bit under different lighting conditions, but not enough to qualify as alexandrite. The stone weighs 7 carats & is set in solid 14k rose gold wire. Chrysoberyl is a fine mineral. It is known for a few varieties: its most common form is a bright yellow or rich green stone, but it is also known for its color changing alexandrite (with a green to red color) & cat’s eye (showing the finest chatoyance of any gemstone). This stone is a beautiful example of zimbabwean chrysoberyl. This mine produces famous alexandrite crystals, but many of the crystals don’t show a strong color change. Instead they show a rich green color. This one is a beautiful crystal with a nice green color, & it does show a slight color shift under different lighting, but it isn’t enough that I would call it an alexandrite.
