The mats are backed by a sturdy vinyl to prevent slipping & sealed with a rubber sealant to avoid chipping & fading. The mats vary in color, from light to dark, due to the natural material of the coconut husks. Each mat is unique & often has darker, thicker pieces throughout. The coir fiber turns a darker color when it gets wet. Keep out of extreme weather to prolong its lifetime.
