Greetings from Vermont…My best description is this is a hand made rustic Peruvian Hacienda “Frailero” arm chair in the Spanish Colonial influence. This Peruvian influence sets this style apart from furniture that was made in the same period in Spain & Mexico. Hacienda owners in Colonial Peru , who were mostly wealthy landowners , contracted the best furniture makers , gilders , carvers & blacksmiths to create the most elite furniture to set their mark in colonial society. The furniture was mostly made from Peruvian walnut. I am am a retired general contractor / designer & woodworker & have restored & refinished furniture for at least 50 years. However , not having seen any antique samples of Peruvian furniture , I cannot date this piece with accuracy. My best judgement tells me to be conservative & guesstimate 19th century. I would not at all be surprised to know it is maybe 18th century. All nails/tacks are hand cut. Leather shows proper shrinkage for the age. There is an “L” cut or branded in most of the pieces I secured from this estate. I believe the owner befriended the owners of a hacienda & was allowed to purchase several pieces. Provenance… I am my own best picker & generate my own estate leads. I was invited to visit an estate in Westborough, MA. It was & is a living estate but the original owner now lives with her sister. Although she is still with us, she is unable to elaborate how she came to purchase this piece & the several other wonderful pieces I bought. I dealt with another family member who is handling the estate. My leads are generally initiated by real estate brokers. This home has been sold. As a young woman, the owner taught English in Peru. She adored South America & when she returned to the USA , she brought home many artifacts from the region. She returned to the USA in 1962. I now own most , if not all , of the furniture. My best measurements are 23" w X 15.5" d (base)X 42.5" h & weighs 24 lbs. Seat height is like 18.25". I DO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONALLY. I have posted a delivery price of $250. This is the cost to deliver up to 250 miles & more from Rutland , Vermont. A flat rate charge of $325 is for NYC & LI. White glove delivery generally completed within 14 days. I can offer two modes of shipping. One is via Greyhound Express for the same $250 to anywhere lower 48. Possible shipping via FedEx but I will need a zip to get a quote. If one is not willing to spend $250-$350 for FedEx , please don’t bother me for a quote. Give2Get Old Bob Antique Peruvian “Frailero” Spanish Colonial Arm Chair
