Very nice example of a Hitchcock style chair with hand done caning on the seat. The gold stencil accents are fading in spots. The chair is very sturdy & well-made. There are a couple breaks to the caning in the seat but overall in pretty good condition for its age. Would be great at a desk, as an extra chair at the dining table or anywhere extra seating is desired. The chair is painted black & has applied gold fruit bowl & leaves stencils on the front side of the backrest & some gold painted accents down the front legs. The front legs & stretcher have interesting ring turns. This chair is lovely from the back as well. The wood has a great patine & beautiful wood grain on the cross rail.
