Bay colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this absolutely stunning 20th century Chinoiserie decorated Chippendale style desk chair. The chair is heavily decorated all around & we’d like to note that the decoration is continued on the back so the design can be seen when not in use & tucked into the desk. The paint decoration is slightly raised from the splat & depicts a charming village scene with multiple structures & people. The stiles have nice curves & there’s good use of the negative space between them & the splat which creates an effect that resembles two opposing birds. The chair arms have a wide shoulder that’s comfortable to rest your arms on & they have a flower & vine decoration that’s continued down to the seat. The chair has a compass shaped seat with orange leather & the entire seat box is decorated with a repeating gold geometric design that’s also found on the stiles & the same flower & vine design that’s on the arms. The front of the chair has cabriolet legs with well defined ball & claw feet with a gold Acanthus leaf at the knee block with tapering bellflowers below. The chair is in wonderful condition with our only notes being very minimal paint loss. The chair is solid as a rock & will hold up well to daily use. The chair measures 24" wide x 21 3/4" deep x 41 3/4" tall. The seat measures 18 1/2" wide at the narrowest point between the arms (21" @ widest point) x 17 1/2" deep with a seat height of 18 1/2". 20Th Century Chinese Chippendale Antique Style Desk Chair - Chinoiserie Paint Ball & Claw Feet
