10x7mm Pear Shaped Color Changing Purple/Blue Lab-Created Alexandrite Two 3mm Natural White Topaz 925 Sterling Silver Ring US Size 6.5 Karen’s Description - This ring features a 2 carat, or 10x7mm, OEC Pear Cut, Lab-Created Alexandrite. in layman’s terms, that means that this stone is cut in the general shape of a pear, then the rear facets of the gemstone are cut in large. geometric facets that are intended to catch low lighting more effectively. This style of rear facet is called an ‘Old European Cut’, because it was developed in the 18th century so lords & ladies could flaunt their colored gemstones in the candlelight & lamplight of the era. This technique leaves a distinctly different impression - & it works particularly well with this alexandrite, because it REALLY exemplifies the ‘color change’ capability of these stones. Most stones will just have one color range of sparkles - a purple stone is purple - a blue stone is blue. Alexandrite, & this one especially, will initially appear as purple, but with just a little movement, you’ll see a darker blue sparkle. I’m really thrilled with this particular stone, & think you will be too. We’ve set this along with two, 3mm natural white topazes, all set into a really comfortable 925 Sterling Silver Ring.
