Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic 19th century antique Sheraton fancy paint chair. This is as nice as these come with a finely formed thumb back, slat & ball back, compass formed seat, & splayed front legs with button feet. Sheraton furniture was designed to be more delicate in scale than it’s predecessors & the brightly painted surfaces came into fashion with the new discoveries of Herculaneum, Pompeii, etc.. The chair is decorated with a superb gold & mustard seed yellow paint with a phenomenal Greeley key painting on the curved crest. We strongly believe this is a New York Chair but have seen a few similar ones from Baltimore. The chair is in wonderful condition with our only notes being minor point loss as pictured. The chair measures 18 1/4" wide x 16 1/4" deep x 33 1/2" tall with a seat height of 17 1/2". 19Th Century Antique Sheraton Fancy Paint Thumb Back Chair with Rush Seat & Greek Key Design
