This reminds us of the end pages of very old books dating from the 17 & 1800s. It is a dipping method that creates these amazing swirls of color. This large piece is quite rare to find, they are usually much smaller. Here is a great video of Rajiv Surendra showing & explaining the art & process (with paper); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x36f713jZA Jaspe pottery typically are marble-like swirls of colors or geometric designs of lines & dots. The colors are most often in earth tones of rust, green, brown, & yellow. This pottery was country pottery & meant to be used. Measures; approx. 10.5" height by 9.5" width (at widest point), 5.75" opening at the top. Weighing just over 4 lbs. Timeworn condition & patina. Lots of old nibbles & chipping around the rims & and pint finish. Otherwise good strong solid piece for display. There is roughness to the bottom & the interior. Variations in color & patina with staining, scratches, crazing & paint loss, all part of its’ charm & character, part of its’ history now & we are selling as found.
